
Daniel Whyte, a FUOYE student of English and literary studies has emerged the first runner up of the second edition of Gbemisola Adeoti Poetry Competition organised by Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) OAU branch.
The prize giving ceremony of the competition which was themed “The exploration of the African (Nigerian) identity and consciousness through the lens of poetry” took place on Saturday, the 15th of December,2018 at the Obafemi Awolowo University.
The event had in attendance professor Gbemisola Adeoti, a professor in English and Dean, Faculty of Arts, OAU as well as Dr Wale Okediran former National president of ANA among others.
Daniel Whyte, a 400 level student of English and Literary Studies was announced as first runner up alongside Yusuff Uthman, a student from University of Ibadan who was the winner and Adedayo Babatunde, also a student of UI who was the second runner up.
Daniel Whyte is currently the Chief Editor of Union of Campus Journalist (UCJ), FUOYE chapter. He also holds the position of Editor-in-Chief of the ELS Writers Association (EWA).
