
The Federal University Oye-Ekiti students representative council has elected Anifowose Sulaimon of Mechatronics Engineering as house Speaker.
The election was conducted for the speaker and other principal officers earlier today with an open ballot where over forty-three honourables from Ikole and Oye campus voted for their principal officers.
He won the election by being unopposed.

Newly elected speaker
The other elected principal officers are: Adebusi Segun from Agriculture Education and Samuel Chuks who emerged as the deputy speaker and chief whip respectively while being unopposed.
In a keen contest Yunus Abdullahi, a Political Science student defeated Ezekiel Adeniyi from Fishery and Aquaculture with twenty-two votes over nineteen to emerge as the Mace bearer.
Babatunde Sunday, a Biochemistry student defeated Adeitan Sunday from Theatre and Media Arts to clinch the post of Clerk with thirty-six over five votes.
Speaking after the election, the elected speaker, Rt. Hon Anifowose Sulaimon appreciated everyone for voting peacefully.
“I will like everyone to work hand in hand for the betterment and welfarism of the great FUOYITES”, he said.
However it’s pertinent to note that this will be the second students representative council election since the students union government was established in 2017.
