Update on the meeting held with the Bike men's association on the 14th of February 2019
The Student Union Executives met with the Bike men association's executives. In the meeting include
? The Chairman of different bike units.
? The General chairman.
? The Student's Union Executives duly represented by the Student Union President, the Vice President, The Director of Transport, the Welfare Director, Public Relation officer and others.
The basic agenda for the meeting was ?
Peace
Bike Price
Security
On peace:
The attitude and behaviour of some bike men and some students were made known to be the cause of disruption of peace on campus and the community. The attitudes include not complying to the rules and regulations as well as going against the agreement made with any party. However, the Bike men executives and Student Union Executives enjoined themselves into propagating peace and ensuring their members to follow the rules and agreement been made in different areas.
On Bike Price:
It was re-agreed that the normal price for bike transport I.e ? 50naira for a single passenger and 70/80 naira for two passengers should not be altered by the bike men nor the students. The bike men executives were been beseeched to enforce their members to comply with the agreed price.
On Security:
The Student Union Executives made it known that the level of insecurity keeps increasing and it's high time it is been curbed. The Student's Union Executives emphasized on the use of union Jackets by the bike men and also lessening of speeds by the bikers and also informed them about registering with the Student's union and usage of Student union stickers as well as maintaining their parking spot.
The Bike men Executives made it known that they will enforce their members to comply with the use of their union jackets, lessening of speeds and maintaining their parking spot. They however appeal to get back to the director of transport on other request made though they are satisfied with it since it is based on the security of the general populace.
The meeting ended after further deliberations.
? In light Of The above, The Student Union Executives hereby urge all our students to comply with the agreed price and not alter it. Also we beseech us to embrace peace, be security conscious and report any case immediately to the appropriate quarters.
