Two FUOYE Aspirant have been allegedly duped by a Fraudster named Isacc Charles who claimed to be a staff of the institution.
Isaac Charles with a phone number 0813 320 8190 claimed to be an administrative staff of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti. He promises innocent and desperate admission seekers in the 2018/2019 admission year the prospect of an admission but ends up to be false, sources claim.
UCJ FUOYE gathered that he has allegedly swindled his victims to the tune of one hundred and forty five thousand naira by sending and issuing fake admission letters and remita receipts.
Speaking to UCJ FUOYE, one of his victims Ajayi Ayomide Oluwaseun said he met him on Facebook and he promised to help him secure his admission into Computer Science department of the University. He was asked to pay a processing fee of Twenty thousand naira but Ayomide said because of his fears, he paid only five thousand naira as a deposit to one Akeem Gbolagade who banks with ECOBANK and with the account number 8019245110.
He Continued said “as soon as I paid the processing fee, he sent an admission letter into my mail bearing the name of Federal University Oye Ekiti and mandating me to pay the sum of forty thousand naira into one Isaac Charles’ account who banks with GTB with account number 0003490997 on which I did due to my desperation after waiting at home for 4years seeking admission.”
“The next day he sent a remita acceptance receipt into my mail and then asked me to pay my school fees into the same account but also asked me to wait for two weeks before I can see my admission status on JAMB CAPS because the school is still uploading the names of those she had admitted on JAMB and as a result it will take sometime for my name to appear. I could not pay the school fees immediately because my Dad was having some doubts and fears. It is more than two months now my name is not yet on JAMB CAPS and the FUOYE admission portal.”
Another of his victims who preferred anonymity but will testify before the police and court should she be required to do so said she had lost up to one hundred thousand naira to the same Isaac Charles.
When contacted, the University’s Chief Security Officer, Mr. Paul Ogidi, said investigation will begin on it. Although, he added that “we may not be able to achieve much result now until after the holidays”.
