Today January 15, 2018 is definitely a grand day in Federal University Oye-Ekiti as Fuoye First Student Union Executives Where Inaugurated. This Student Union Government Executive Body, where the body which were elected on the 29th of September 2017.
The event witness the attendance of university officials as the Acting Registrar Mrs Oyeyimika Koyejo Fasakin, the Dean Faculty of Engineering, who is also the Chairman of the Student Union Committee, professor Alabadan, the Director of servicom, and the university’s Barrister I. O Osadola.
The even began with the opening prayer made by Professor Alabadan which was immediately followed by the V.C’s brief address where he stressed the fact that leaders can exist only because of the followers, thus he enjoined the about to be inaugurated executives to embrace “what is called the template of responsible leadership”, and that leadership isn’t “the main thing but everything”. Finally, before he concluded, he gave a fatherly advice to the freshers and said “it is great to be in the university, it is greater still to graduate successfully.”
After the V.C’s speech was the proper inauguration and oath taking by the executives which was afterwards succeeded by the executive president’s speech where he stressed prominently that in their tenure, “good democracy will take over self-centeredness”.
Successively, the Acting registrar afterwards addressed the entirety of the student body on behalf of the V.C, and made clear two facts: one is that students should ensure they dress decently while the second was a stern note that “Fuoye has zero tolerance for cultism”. Thus, afterwards, the historical event came to an end with the closing prayer by the newly inaugurated Treasurer.
This historical feat doesn’t only leaves a lasting memory in the hearts of all but also serves as a stepping stone for greater achievements in this prestigious citadel of learning, and it is hoped that this tenure will lay a good foundation for more better ones.
